Visitation

Visitation can be restricted to visitors who meet the criteria. Visitors who are unable to follow the core principles of COVID19 infection prevention should not be permitted to visit or should be asked to end the visit and leave.
Core Principles of COVID19 infection prevention for visitors.
- Screening of all who enter the facility for signs and symptoms of COVID19 including temperature checks and questions/observations of signs and symptoms or those who have had close contact with someone with COVID19 infection in the prior 14 days (regardless of visitor’s vaccination status).
- Hand Hygiene (use of alcohol-based hand rub is preferred).
- Face mask covering.
- Social distancing at least 6 feet between persons.
Outdoor Visitation
Outdoor visitation remains the safest and is recommended by CMS and CDC due to ventilation. Outdoor Visitation is preferred even when the resident and visitor are fully vaccinated against COVID19.
All visitors must follow the Core Principles of COVID19 infection Prevention for visitors.
- Visitations will be on the facility’s designated indoor or outdoor visitation area.
- Appointments will be made in advance prior to visitation. Call facility for details.
- Visitations will be limited to two visitors from the same household at a time per resident. \
- Visitation time is limited. Call facility for details.
- Notify all visitors upon arrival that if they develop symptoms of COVID19 within three days after visiting, they must immediately notify the facility.
- Visitors will wait in their car until it is time for their visit.
- Visitors should be escorted to the designated indoor visitation area and stay in designated visiting locations. Visitors are not allowed to wander throughout the facility.
- Visitors will not be allowed to visit in residents’ rooms unless there is no other way to accommodate the visit.
- The facility will ensure that a minimum distancing of six feet will occur during visitation. If social distancing is not practiced, the visitor will be asked to end the visit.
- Residents and visitors must wear a face-covering during the duration of the visit. Residents with active COVID-19 infection, either laboratory-confirmed or symptomatic, are not allowed to participate in outdoor visits.
- There must be adequate PPE to permit residents, if they are able to comply, to wear a face mask during visitation. The visitor must bring their own face mask.
- Visitors may provide food and beverage to the resident (following the resident’s diet), but food should not be shared between residents and visitors.
- The facility will clean highly touched surfaces frequently and designed visitation areas after each visit.
- Children are permitted to visit. Visitors with children must be able to manage them, and children must be able to wear a face mask during the entire visitation. Children under the age of 2 are not required to wear a mask per CDC guidelines.
- All visitors must sign in and provide contact information including name and phone number.
- Visitors are not required to be vaccinated or tested as a condition of visitation.
The facility should allow visitation for all residents (regardless of vaccination status), except for a few circumstances when visitation should be limited due to a high risk of COVID-19 transmission (note: compassionate care visits should be permitted at all times).
These scenarios include limiting indoor visitation for:
- Residents with confirmed COVID19 infection, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated until they have met the criteria to discontinue transmission-based precautions; or Residents in quarantine, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, until they have met criteria for release from quarantine.
Compassionate Visits
The facility will allow visits in situations that would be considered “compassionate care situations” such as end of life, failure to thrive situations, or residents experiencing emotional distress.
